We visit Bangkok!
We spent a few days in Bangkok before taking buses and cars on some of the worst roads in the world. Driving from the border of Thailand and Cambodia to Pnom Phen is like driving through a nuclear waste land, and they dropped the bombs in the middle of the road. I highly recommend the flight if you ever plan to go there. For God's sake, don't take the bus in Cambodia. While in Bangkok, we took a boat tour and tuled around town for a bit.
We did the boat tour of the river in Bangkok like everyone does. Here's
one of the boats that everyone takes (not ours, was much cheaper actually).
Our guide couldn't actually speak English. Yes, it was cheaper than some
of the more expensive tours. But you figure you might get a guide that
can actually talk to you and tell you about things for your money. I
mean, it wasn't that cheap. He did take us to the planned places though.
Here's one of the temples where we had our picture taken together. 'Course
we had to pay some guy a dollar to use his cut outs with the people head
cut into them.
Here's another random picture at the Royal Palace in Bangkok. The head
cheese had a thing for the Chinese, so he had these funky like statues
everywhere.
Another . . .
Ah, this is at John Thomson's house. He was famous for being a Westerner
that came to Bangkok and had lots of money or something like that. In
any case, he still has a cool garden even though he's dead.
