A short week in northern India

Our primary destination was to be Nepal, but we planned to take local transport from Delhi to Pokhara to start our trek in Nepal. We visited Delhi, Agra, and Varanasi before heading north. Here we go!

We threaten to join Delhi's locals in their holy pool. Psyche.

A very popular pool at that mosque I must say.

Is this France, or India?

Even Todd's ugly mug can't make the Agra's Taj Mahal look bad.

Kam shows off in front of a mosque that no one really cares about (well, except the Muslims) just to the side of the Taj.

We took a stroll around the Taj to see what really happened there.  These fellows were carving stone slabs to be used to replace aging parts of the Taj and nearby mosques.

A nice reflection of the Taj we saw after we left and took a ride on a taxi to the backside.

Cows may be sacred in India but don’t think for a second that they aren’t put to work!

We took a sunset tour on the Ganges.  Another one of those “best sunsets ever” used to get our tourist dollars.

The Ganges has got to be one of the most polluted rivers in the world, what with all those dead people floating around and all.  Luckily the holiness of the river overcomes the yucky stuff and people swim in it, wash in it, and otherwise frolic.

They were having a big celebration at one of the popular wats while we were there.

One more picture to show you all the day off for a cow.  They don’t have to do much but avoid the cars and bicycles.
