October in Australia

The bad part about getting "plugged into" our jobs is that our free time went out the window! October found us working hard, working weekends, with little time for seeing the sites. We did managed to get away for one weekend and made another trip to Moreton Island. This time, we took the plush way, staying at the island's resort (which turns out to be cheaper than renting a car and camping on the island). We took our turn sand-boarding after a short trip on the resort's bus, hiking our tired behinds up the sand hill 5 times (much to our chagrin, someone had made 10 trips earlier in the week).

This resort is also known for dolphin feeding. The resort has fed dolphins from the shore for so long that they publish a schedule for the dolphins and arrange to have them arrive at sunset every night for a snack. We lined up for our turn to carry a dead, scaly fish to the water's edge right after dark and were met by ten hungry dolphins. They were happy to eat them from our hands and not to take a chunk from our legs!
